Please help the Dearborn County shelter dogs!!

Time is running out for cherry....whistle.....cricket.... and dozens of dogs in Dearborn County.

"We're so over crowed right now...we're at the point here, where somebody's going to have to be going," says Dearborn county animal shelter officer Lisa Harrison.

They need your help, and without it these big eyes and wagging tails will be gone forever...put to sleep. And shelter director Ann Averill says that's not what she wants.

"We really don't want to euthanize any of them if we can help it," Averill says.

But soon that won't be a choice and even this week some have already been put down. Recently the shelter saw a 30 percent increase in the dog population. Some picked up on the side of the road...others simply left outside.

"We find them tied to the trailer and just roaming around outside the shelter. Our numbers are defiantly up," Averill says

A new addition to the shelter is Venus. She is a yellow lab mix and was recently abandoned and needs a great home. "She is an excellent dog, she makes a great pet for any family, she seems to like kids...she's house broken," Harrison says

The process is fun and even easy on the wallet.

Adoption fees are just forty dollars. If the dog is not spayed or neutered, the shelter will pay for the procedure at one of the local veterinarians. Another perk, the shelter is running a special where they'll give you a brand new leader leash. You can even bring in your other pets for a meet and greet.

The shelter is also in need of all donations, including dog and cat food, litter, hay or straw for bedding and cash donations to help with medical expenses.

The Dearborn County Animal Shelter is located at 11681 County Farm Road, Aurora, Indiana 47001 or you can visit the website at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/IN186.html

Hey, I just joined this community. My girlfriend and I are planning to move here this summer, and right now are close to getting an apartment at the Riley Towers. I was wondering if any of you could share any opinions of the place? Please and thank you in advance.

John Ostrander, Dan Piraro, and other comic experts at the Eiteljorg

How many comic super heroes can you name? How many Western or Native American super heroes can you name? Come check out Western and Native Reflections in Comics at the Eiteljorg on January 24th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Plan on spending the day with experts from around North America to test your comic knowledge and learn about the ties between the Eiteljorg’s mission and comic books.

The day’s guests will include John Ostrander (Batman, The Spectre, Wolverine, Star Wars, Apache Skies, The Kents, Grimjack, etc.), Dan Piraro (Bizarro), Michael Sheyahshe (Native Americans in Comic Books) and Steve Sanderson (Darkness Calls, Rockstar Games, Cartoon Network, etc.). There will be panel discussions, a meet and greet, signings, comic sales, giveaways, demonstrations, and more! The event is free with paid admission ($8 public, $5 students, free to IUPUI students, staff, and faculty).

Then be sure to come back on January 25th for Dan Piraro’s one-man show The Bizarro West! at 3:00 PM. Part lecture, part comedy, The Bizarro West! is an all access look into Piraro’s writing and illustrations followed by a meet and greet and book signings. You can even purchase your ticket at the comics event the day before to be sure you get a seat ($10 public, $5 students and members).

I was trying to find the rules and stuff for what you can have on you/can't or can/can't bring into the Pepsi Coliseum for concerts? Do they allow cameras? I tried searching the net for the rules but they weren't up on the Fairgrounds website or anything. It will be for the Slipknot concert, if that makes any difference.

Also, anyone else planning on going?

Hi everyone! I just moved from Michigan to Noblesville. I've been here for about a week, so I don't really know any of the cool places to go. I was wondering if anyone knew of a coor bar or club in Noblesville I could go to on Halloween? I don't really want to venture into Indy because that would be too hard to get home after drinking!

Thanks everyone :)

Contractor and plumber recommendations?
My husband and I just bought a house, and it needs some work. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best contractor or plumber you know? We're basically just looking for estimates/diagnoses of issues at this point, but do want to take care of some work soon. We are on the Northwest side of the city (73rd and Grandview-ish).

House for rent?
Forgive me for posting this everywhere, but I'm new to the Indy communities, and I'm not sure which one(s) are the most active.

I will be moving to Indianapolis in the next 4 - 10 weeks and my partner and I are looking for a rental home.

Short term rental (Monthly, 2-4 months, etc.)

Marion / Johnson counties

Min: 2 Bed / 2 Bath

Fenced in back yard (we have a dog)

We want to buy a place in the next year, but without me having a set move date, it'll be easier for us to rent at first.

Links, listings, and/or advice welcome.

(heavily x-posted, I apologize for f-list spamming)

Thursday I am having a t-shirt stencil get-together. I have supplies but would appreciate people sharing. Feel free to bring snacks as well. I live downtown and be warned I have an insane dog and cats who love to cuddle.

If you have questions about what this is about go to KittyButtons.com. That is also the best site to find stencils. You can do the stencil on pretty much anything...it isn't t-shirt specific.

If you're interested let me know!

Guitar Repair

I'm near the Greenwood area and am in need of getting my guitar refinished. I was wondering what place, most importantly, does it best, and a cheap-ish price is always appreciated.
